NTHELL

Well last night I went to upload my Amsterdam pictures to my NTL webspace using FTP. I normally keep a fair amount of randomness on here. To my surprise I could not login, maybe I had forgotten my username. Nah, still no joy.

I decided to try the webmail thinking the ftp side of ntl maybe down. Again no joy. This time went to ask for a password reminder, philip.harvey@ntlworld.com does not exist. Looks like NTL have deleted my email account.

Went on a general hunt through the net and came across a lot of other people with the same problem.

Seems like NTL have run a script that deletes old dial up accounts (mine from the days I had 2 phone lines)without migrating them to the users broadband accounts.

Where does this leave me, well my philip.harvey@ntlworld account was my main account. Luckily enough I have my domain forward to both that account and my gmail.

I now need to call NTL and try to get them to migrate my account and reinstate my email. Nightmare.

Well that's everyone fully recovered from the dam. Not much more I can say about the place as all we done was get wasted.

Only picture that I thought I could blog about was this one.

Very amusing was laughing for ages at this!

Lights On

Things moving along quite nicely now in our house. Coving is up bar 1 room. Kitchen has been stripped. Toilet is nearly finished. Looking good for moving in shortly.

Michele bought some lights for the living room and hall. We managed to get them up without any hassle which was good.

Things left to do in the house now are flooring, kitchen and fit doors. Reckon we should be able to move in by the middle of August.

More Flags?

Another T in the Park gone and again a mix of weather. Friday Sunny spells. Saturday Rain. Sunday Sunny. Cant really complain about weather as it could have been worse!

Thing that gets me is every year there seems to be more and more of the silly flags, I mean what's the point! I am tall and can see the stages from anywhere but when they have them flags I cant see nothing.

Line up this year has been the poorest I have ever seen at T in the Park. With the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlining the Saturday night and The Who closing on the Sunday. At a glance it looked like they spent a lot of money getting these two bands to play as the rest of the bands on the main stage were very average.

Anyways after only going for 1 day last year we decided to give camping a shot. I Have camped before at T, Michele on the other has not. Arrived on Friday afternoon and were signaled to the nearest carpark, this carpark was about 3 miles away from the actual campsite! After about 2 hours of lugging camping equipment and beer cargo we were ready to snap. Tents were up for about 5.30 just in time to catch the rest of the sun and drink our beers.

Saturday 1st band we seen were Manu Chao, no idea who they were or what they sang. Sounded like they were Mexican, anyways was quite upbeat set. We then went for beer tokens which took an hour to get through the queue! Which put me in a right mood. Next up were Maximo Park. Knowing a few of their songs I thought they might be alright, how I was so wrong. Poor.

We then headed to the NME/Radio 1 stage to see some of The Feeling, again no idea who they are or what they sign all I know was it was silly busy with people. Poor again. Next up were The Kooks, no idea who or what they sign. Silly busy and young boys on stage, decided I had enough and went to see placebo on the main stage.

At this point I noticed that the sound was much better at the NME/Radio 1 stage than at the main stage itself. Madness! Placebo for me are not really a main stage band, few songs I could pick out from the set which sounded ok.

Kaiser chiefs next, Michele was looking forward to them. I predict a riot etc, can name a few songs but knew they were not going to blow me away with their set. Correct again.

Next up were the unexpected best act for me. Franz Ferdinand, not a fan of their work but they actually put on a decent performance and was now looking forward to seeing the chilies.

Chilies came on and I was expecting to get blown away as they have done in the past. Very average they were, they played some of their hits and some new songs. I am of the opinion if you play at festivals you play all your hits.

Back to the tent cold wet and disappointed with Saturdays performances!

Sunday looked like a better line up after Saturdays. Went and seen a band called mobile, next big Canadian band. Have to say for all the 50 people that seen them this was the best so far at T. Thanks to Paul he introduced me to the Altenative Rock collections where I picked up one of their tunes. Excellent set more people came in as the rain lashed down outside.

Caught some of Fightstar, garbage. Proclaimers should not be on main stage, Magic Numbers were ok. Some boy from Paisley was on Paolo Nutini before the Magic number he sounded actually ok before getting booted off stage after 2 songs.

Then done some wondering between stages to catch more bands, seeing We are scientists, dirty pretty things and the Arctic monkeys all of which were ok.

Then headed down to see Feeder, who always in my view put a fantastic set on. Again was not left disappointed by their performance playing all their hits and also their new tune. By far the best of the weekend.

Went back to main stage to catch some strokes, yep ok. Looking at the list of bands on next, The Who and Richard Ashcroft we decided to catch some smaller bands in the T break and Futures stage. Tried to get in to see the automatics way to busy to get in but heard their monster song. On after them were The Fratellies another band that is currently being hyped. Great live they were, will be looking out for more of their material.

Finished off the weekend by seeing some of The Who / Richard Ashcroft and Boy Kill Boy, all rather tame for a closing night.

Tickets went back on sale this morning and were sold out after 70 mins. Gave it a miss this year until I know who will be playing......

Tile Mania

Bathroom started to get tiled yesterday by my old man. When I got there at night I gave him a hand with the tiles. Very messy job! Before I started to help him I had to take the door facings off which was fun. We managed to tile one full wall before calling it quits to watch the world cup semi final.

We still need a shower and the towel rail to be fitted and the bathroom will be finished and I can actually have a wash after working in the house!

Bit Generations

Having recently upgrade my old Gameboy Advance with out a backlight to the micro, I have been looking out for new games to play on the micro. Stumbled across this today. Not really sure how to read jap, games look really simple and look as if they are same type of skill games as seen in wario ware.

Painting by Numbers

With bathroom almost finished and new boiler and radiators in place, decided to turn my attention to painting. The roof was 1st after an unsuccessfully 1st coat in the bedroom I decided to by some Dulux one coat paint. This stuff does what it says on the tin!

Next I set out to paint the living room again with this Dulux one coat paint. We chose the natural wicker mainly down the fact the colour Michele wanted was not available in a big tub. One coat later and the living room was looking good.

Bathroom Fitted

While on holiday a lot was done to our new home. Bathroom suite went in, some more carpets came up and rooms wallpaper ready for painting.
We had a problem with our living room roof which had to be lowered to give extra support. Bathroom roof was also lowered and dim lights fitted along with the coving of the bathroom. The floor also got tiled which just left me to tile the bathroom and fit a shower.

When we returned central heating was still waiting to be fitted, I did not want to start painting until this was fitted.
